Announcement Regarding The Future of Brabyns Preparatory School

Posted: 6th March 2026

Brabyns Preparatory School has now concluded its formal consultation with parents, staff and other stakeholders regarding the future of the school. Following this process, the Governors have taken the difficult decision that the Preparatory School will close at the end of the Summer Term.

This decision comes after a prolonged period of careful review in response to the significant challenges facing the independent school sector in recent years. The Governors would like to thank all members of the school community who contributed thoughtfully and constructively to the consultation.

The Governors recognise that this news will be deeply upsetting for pupils, families and staff. Brabyns Preparatory School has been an important and valued part of the local community for many years, and the priority now is to support pupils and colleagues with care, compassion and sensitivity during this period of transition.

The Nursery will remain open and continues to be a valued and thriving part of the Brabyns community. It welcomes children from 6 months of age and is committed to providing the very best start in early years education, supporting young children in a nurturing and stimulating environment.

Throughout the remainder of the academic year, the school will remain focused on ensuring stability and continuity for its pupils, while working closely with families and staff to provide guidance and support during this transition.
