Infants (Years 1 – 2)

Welcome to Infants at Brabyns

The Infants (Key Stage 1) at Brabyns is made up of two classes: Years 1 and 2.

Within the Infants, we work with every child to reinforce and build on the skills they have developed in the Early Years Foundation Stage. The emphasis throughout Infants is to develop skills, knowledge and understanding in a range of key subjects whilst providing each child with opportunities to develop independence, self-confidence, self-discipline and self-esteem.

Our aim is to make learning a relevant, engaging and enjoyable process and one in which wide-ranging skills are developed. Each individual is supported to reach their full potential in all areas of our broad curriculum.

Our amazing team of dedicated and enthusiastic class teachers and assistants work tirelessly to provide a broad, balanced and inspiring curriculum.

Curriculum

The children in Infants benefit from specialist teaching in Music & Drama, Spanish and Physical Education, plus a swimming lesson every Friday.

Children are able to enjoy a range of extra-curricular activities, as well as tuition in musical instruments including violin, piano, guitar and drums, with the opportunity to perform during the school year.

The curriculum is brought to life with trips and visits, which take place throughout the school year. In addition, we run an Activity Day with a one-night sleepover in the Summer term for all children in Years 1 and 2, which is always very popular among the children.
