At Brabyns, we have a long history of providing outstanding education. We believe that learning for young children should be a nurturing, rewarding and enjoyable experience in which they are able to explore, create and discover in a secure and happy environment.

Nursery provides our children with the very best start to their academic lives, whilst helping them to develop socially, emotionally, and physically.

Our Nursery is Expanding!

Brabyns Nursery is excited to announce a brand new extension for 2026, dedicated to providing high-quality childcare and education for children from the age of 9 months.

The Nursery has previously specialised in Early Years education from the age of 2 years, with Little Learners and Pre Prep classes enjoying a diverse and immersive curriculum in preparation for their move up to the main school Reception class. Due to the popularity of Brabyns’ provision, alongside the growth of the school family, the unique Independent establishment has been granted Ofsted approval to branch out and nurture a younger cohort.

Brabyns’ new 9 month room officially opened at the start of January. A beautiful space designed for comfort and curiosity, the Baby Room offers a calm, cosy environment with experienced, friendly staff who know babies best. A brand-new outdoor learning environment is also being developed for the babies to play, learn and thrive!.

“We are delighted to expand our Nursery offering to children from the age of 9 months. Our goal is to establish a home away from home where every child feels valued, supported, and inspired,” said Cath Carrasco – Headteacher at Brabyns Prep School & Nursery. “We are proud to offer an established, carefully designed curriculum which balances learning with fun; ensuring that the younger members of our school family build the skills they need for a successful start in life.”

With limited spaces available, the baby room is currently running a waiting list. Prospective parents are invited to contact the school for more information or book a tour slot at the next School and Nursery Open Morning scheduled for Saturday 9 May 2026.

Nursery Curriculum

Brabyns Nursery follows the Early Years curriculum guidelines, consisting of seven areas of learning and development which are interconnected:

  • Personal, Social & Emotional Development
  • Communication and Language
  • Physical Development
  • Literacy
  • Mathematics
  • Understanding the World
  • Expressive Arts and Design

We see each child as an individual, with their own unique interests, characteristics and capabilities. Our curriculum, and each child’s next steps, are carefully tailored according to these, whilst working in collaboration with you.

The children learn through a combination of adult-focused taught sessions with indoor and outdoor learning time, providing incredible opportunities to inspire, stimulate, motivate and challenge them further!

Children in Nursery benefit from the expertise of our specialist teachers through weekly lessons in Spanish, Science, Physical Education, Music and Performing Arts, in addition to regular Art, gardening, woodwork, baking and Forest School sessions, along with visitor experiences and trips.

Transition from Nursery to Reception

The transition from Nursery to Reception at Brabyns is seamless. Throughout the year the Pre Prep children will spend time with our Reception children and staff, as well being given ample opportunities to explore both their indoor and outdoor classroom environments.

Our Nursery and Reception team dedicate time to working in collaboration, engaging in regular dialogue relating to each individual child’s attainment, progress and next steps. This ensures that the Reception staff are fully aware of the individual’s capabilities, areas that they need support with, and how they can be challenged further in the subsequent class.
