Baby Brabyns (6 months – 2 years)
In Baby Brabyns, we focus on the Prime Areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS): Personal, Social and Emotional Development; Physical Development; and Communication and Language. These areas provide the essential foundations for future learning and support children as they progress into the Specific Areas of the curriculum.
Our baby room offers a calm, nurturing and stimulating environment where babies are encouraged to explore the world around them through sensory play, movement, music, textures and interactive experiences. These early experiences help to support brain development, strengthen memory, encourage communication, and develop curiosity and confidence.
Through responsive interactions, gentle routines and opportunities for exploration and discovery, we help each child develop the skills, security and independence needed for the next stage of their learning journey.
Little Learners (2 years – 3 years)
In Little Learners, we encourage children to explore, create and develop their own ideas by carefully designing an environment that offers open-ended learning opportunities inspired by children’s interests and natural curiosity.
Opportunities to develop early literacy and mathematical understanding are woven throughout our daily adventures, play experiences and shared learning. Through stories, songs, rhymes, conversations, counting activities and pattern exploration, children begin to develop an awareness of numbers, patterns, language, rhyme and storytelling from an early age.
Alongside our daily free-flow outdoor learning, children benefit from age-appropriate Forest School-inspired experiences and regular exploration of the outdoor environment, which form an integral part of our approach. These experiences help children build confidence, independence, physical coordination and a strong connection with the natural world while encouraging curiosity, problem-solving and collaborative learning.
Pre Prep (3 – 4 years)
Alongside continued learning through children’s interests, play and outdoor experiences, our Pioneers take part in daily literacy and mathematics sessions designed to develop the knowledge, skills and understanding needed across the Specific Areas of the EYFS curriculum: Literacy, Mathematics, Understanding the World, and Expressive Arts and Design.
Children in the Pre-Reception stage are introduced to a range of specialist experiences, helping them to broaden their understanding of music, dance, art and early language learning. Developing musicality and a love of rhythm, rhyme and song supports sensory development, coordination, vocabulary growth and creative thinking, while also providing valuable opportunities for collaboration and relationship building.
Through artistic exploration and creative expression, children are encouraged to use their imagination, experiment with ideas and develop practical skills. These experiences nurture confidence, curiosity and a pioneering spirit of both individual and shared discovery.
Introducing children to early language learning helps to strengthen their communication skills, develop listening and sound discrimination, and encourage an awareness of different languages and ways of expressing ideas.
Our Pre Prep class also continue to develop important physical skills, including balancing, climbing, throwing and catching, which support the development of fine and gross motor control, hand-eye coordination, spatial awareness and overall physical confidence. These foundations help prepare children for a successful transition into the next stage of their educational journey.
