Year 3 have been working hard on their Egyptian stories. The children read the story of the Egyptian Cinderella by Shirley Climo and used Pie Corbett’s 'Talk for Writing' model to support them in their writing.
The children started by getting fully immersed in the story, they then boxed up the story to provide a basic structure and co-constructed the success criteria which acted as a writer’s toolkit.
Next, they used their boxed up planner to help them write their own stories based on the structure of the original story as a shared write.
The children wrote some excellent stories and were very proud of their achievements. One pupil exclaimed, “I’ve never written so much, look I’ve filled the page!”
Well done Year 3 on your achievements. Here are some photographs of the writers at work.
