Year 1 have been learning about micro habitats and the mini beasts that live there.
In order to improve the children’s understanding of what they were learning, they went on a hunt around the School grounds to see what they could find.
The children learnt by turning over logs and carefully picking up stones, under which they were able to find a whole variety of mini-beasts co-habiting in the same environment.
The purpose of this activity was to promote the children’s relationship with nature, to ensure that they are aware of the need to take care of it and to learn to love all the creatures, even the tiniest of them all.
