Coming back to school was a big moment in the lives of our children. Their happy faces and eager conversations demonstrated how excited they were to be back.
During the last day of online learning,Year 1 were asked what they were looking forward to most about coming back to school. Golden Time was the unanimous decision as most of the children had really missed playing with their friends.
Playing far outweighed anything else in their minds. They had missed using their imaginations and conversational skills to interact with each other whilst playing with the various toys in the classroom.
The huge cardboard box that was waiting for them on Monday morning became an instant hit. After having windows and doors cut out for them, the children set about wallpapering their new house. They added lights and cushions and illustrated the walls with their own drawings.
As the days progressed, the house became a part of the children’s role play and has been used for many different games.
Lockdown has certainly taught them how precious spending time with another person is.
