As part of their work about the Vikings, Year 3 and 4 have been reading ‘How to Train Your Dragon’ by Cressida Cowell in their English lessons.
One Monday afternoon, Mrs Mitchell was amazed to look on the office CCTV and see a fire breathing dragon landing on the Brabyns Astroturf! (You can still see some burn marks if you look closely).
This was a super exciting ‘hook’, which really engaged the children, and they had many ideas about how they could trap the dragon if it returned. They looked at the features of instruction writing including time connectives and imperative verbs and had a go at writing their own set of instructions on how to trap a dragon. You can see some examples of their work here.
Have a look at the video for yourself! But don’t panic, Year 3 and 4 are on hand if the dragon ever returns, they know exactly what to do!
