It’s time to get moving! The Little Gems have been bouncing, rolling, skipping and running around developing our gross motor skills. Gross motor plays an enormous part in all areas of the learning and development within the Early Years.
Gross motor skills are a variation of major body movement such as walking, maintaining balance, coordination, and reaching. These abilities share connections with other physical functions. Such skills are important for play, sports, and fitness.
However, our gross motor development aids other areas of the curriculum too. Writing is a fine motor skill, but many aspects of it hinge on gross motor movements.
Look at us enjoying the equipment in the outdoor area, practising these gross motor movements!
