When the Nursery children received their special invitation to the Brabyns Ball, their faces lit up with excitement. They chose their own dancing partners, the music they wanted to hear at the ball, as well as the food they would like to eat.
The next day, they made decorations and delicious treats for the grand ball table. After that it was full steam ahead! The children were encouraged to dress as independently as possible and when they had all their suits and ball gowns on they all looked very smart and elegant.
To start the event off, the children got with their partners for the first dance. There was a specific request to dance to ‘ball room music.’ They all did incredibly well with their dance moves - it was like something from Strictly Come Dancing!
The ball proceeded with music that the children chose to dance to. After their energetic ball room dancing, it was time to sample the food they had made. This included, Beauty and the Beast cupcakes, jam heart shaped sandwiches and even chocolate strawberries. The event ended with the boys giving the girls a flower each which was a sweet gesture. It rounded off a lovely afternoon of fun and frivolity.
In addition we raised money for the RNLI from donations made on the day!
