The children in Year 4 have been hard at work writing news reports on the death of King Tutankhamun. They explored the importance of the 5W’s (who, what, where, when and why), alongside direct speech, reported speech and compelling language. Satisfyingly, their application of these key features to their own written work enabled the creation of the ‘perfect recipe’ to captivate a reader.
After the editing, improving and hard work was complete, Year 4 spent time understanding the meaning of ‘intonation’ and how to use expression and body language in a way that would interest an audience upon their promotion to ‘News Reporter’. Using their written report, they progressed to filming themselves reporting live from the scene of their unbelievable discovery.
All in all, this was an incredibly successful learning experience with fantastic outcomes, both in written form and performance based.
Well done, Year 4 - you should be very proud of your efforts. We most certainly have some performers in our midst!
