Reception have had fun investigating Autumn and observing the differences around us.
We have started to turn the lights off to see just how dark it is now the clocks have gone back. During our Forest School Activities, we have hunted for the seeds that have fallen off the trees; conkers, beech nuts and acorns. We thought about the animals that use them as food and talked about animals that hibernate over the winter. Back in the classroom we made little hedgehog houses from the sticks and leaves we collected. We have painted using autumn colours and made soup from autumnal vegetables. The children had a great time with Maria, a Forest School specialist, building scarecrows for our playground. It is lovely to watch the children develop all this work during their independent activities.
