Coming back to school has been a big step for our children in Reception and they have risen to the challenge like the stars that they are.
The children returned on Monday and explored the new Dinosaur themed classroom with excitement and were delighted to discover an enormous egg in our outdoor area. Could it be a dinosaur egg? Working together they decided that we should leave the egg outside for a while to see if the mother returned but that we should make signs to warn people not to touch the egg. ‘Great minds think alike,’ and the children shared their ideas about what to write and where to place the signs.
It has been a week of putting our great minds together as we work together: playing tennis with a partner at the Brabyns Tennis Club, reading a story with a partner in phonics, sharing strategies in Maths, building on each other’s ideas in a dinosaur discussion and repeating each other’s rhythms in Music. So much of school life for a Reception child involves collaborating with others as they work and play and is something they have missed. It is the magical ingredient that makes Brabyns such a special place to be.
