The children in Reception have all settled in well and are really enjoying school life meaning they are realising their burgeoning skills and confidence in reading and writing. This week, it has been particularly noticeable everywhere in the classroom. The children have been completing rainbow challenges independently that involve reading and writing, showing excellent segmenting skills, letter formation when writing and blending skills when reading. They have been initiating their own word making using the phonics board to support them and even playing at ‘teaching phonics’. Additionally, the children have been seeking additional challenge, such as wanting to write labels on their drawings or models and have even been supporting one another to choose the correct letters to use when writing.
A great start to ‘Big School’ Reception, some really wonderful achievements already!
