The half term break marked the start of preparations for our Christmas concert at All Saints’ Church, and as such, the children in the Juniors have started to prepare their roles for the Nativity.
Many nativities written for primary schools aren’t a straightforward story of Jesus, Mary and Joseph. They often have a more modern day side story which is influenced by themes in the traditional nativity.
Without revealing all about our Christmas production, the children have explored wealth and poverty, and how these aspects of life present themselves today. The children worked in pairs and created short pieces, role-playing a wealthy person and a less fortunate person in society. It was up to them where the wealth and poor person met, and in what circumstances. The children had to engage with emotions and think through how each person, whether rich or poor ended up in their respective situations.
Our Christmas Service at All Saints’ is on Wednesday 18 December and we look forward to seeing you all there.
