Brabyns Preparatory School in Marple are delighted to welcome back children in Year 5 to school this week at their new “Pop-up school” at Marple Sports Club.
Following three months of virtual school in lockdown, the team at Brabyns have worked with Marple Sports Club to grant the site “temporary school status” so that children can return to a face-to-face learning environment with their peers whilst maintaining social distancing.
With ample space for the children to learn in a makeshift classroom and spend time outside, the sports club was a perfect location for the school to temporarily move to until the end of term.
Using the facility has allowed enough space at the school on Arkwright Road for children across all other year groups to return too.
Lee Sanders, Headteacher at Brabyns, said: “In the school’s 121 year history, Brabyns has never moved from Arkwright Road. However it’s worth all the hard work to see the children’s smiling faces as they are reunited with their friends and teachers after all this time apart.”
On their first day at “Pop-up Brabyns”, one child said, “The best thing about being back is seeing my friends in real life instead of on a video call.”
