In Nursery, we place great emphasis is placed on Personal, Social, Emotional Development (PSED) throughout the daily routine, in addition to planned circle times.
For example, as part of our Pirate-themed work, the Nursery class have recently enjoyed learning about how look after their Pirate peers, in addition to encouraging them to make good choices.
This has involved the children even learning Pirate related jokes to put a smile on their friends’ faces!
We were also lucky enough recently to meet M’s pet rabbit, Dora. Each child took great care of Dora, by getting down to her level and stroking her, making her feel comfortable in an unfamiliar setting.
This experience extended the children’s learning by giving them the opportunity to learn about how to care for a different animal, other than Gorky (the School tortoise). It also helped to develop the children’s understanding, as they were encouraged to ask questions (about the rabbit) for themselves. This week the class have also met the School chicks and enjoyed stroking them, some even held them!
As the academic School year is coming to an end, the Kindergarten children have a big responsibility to support their new Little Gems friends who have been attending Brabyns Nursery for their Taster Days.
