In Year 3, we have been celebrating National Storytelling Week by exploring the art of oral stories. This week, we have created our own adventure stories using the story mountain. The children have been incredibly creative and enthusiastic when sharing their ideas to the class virtually, as well as completing their independent plans for their own stories. We have had great ideas including fiery dinosaurs and a lion escape to the ‘Bone Bandit’ out on the prowl to steal dog bones! It is great that children have had both the freedom to use their own ideas as well as work with the appropriate scaffolds to create an effective story plan.
We have moved on now to looking at the features of telling an engaging oral story. We have explored the use of body language through drama activities and how our voice impacts the listener by experimenting with different intonations and expressions within our delivery.
We are in the final stages of preparing our oral stories and are ready to share with our class. Keep an eye out for our videos shortly!
