At Brabyns, we place a big emphasis on the importance of Continuous Provision and access to the outdoor environment.
We aim to provide high quality outdoor provision that is empowering and creative, allowing for a range of experiences to take place.
Outdoor learning in the EYFS is making learning bigger, messier and providing experiences that cannot be gained in the classroom. The children have full access to the resources, independently choosing what they want to use to enhance their play. This gives them ownership of their own learning as they investigate, construct and explore independently. It also encourages them to follow their own interests.
Over the last few days in Nursery, the children have recently chosen to initiate car wash related play, involving the BMW convertible, a bucket of water and a brush. This helped to develop their gross motor and imaginative skills.
Over the course of the week the Reception children have chosen to plant lettuces, using the real gardening tools. This has promoted their Understanding of the World, Physical Development and Communication and Language skills.
