Year 5 have been studying Life cycles in Science. At the start of the topic and to engage the children we looked at Sir David Attenborough’s Wonderful World Clip.
They were inspired by the amazing photos that were included in the video. We discussed David Attenborough and some of the programmes he had directed and starred in. The children wanted to find out more about him so they researched his biography finding out facts about his life.
Next was their challenge: to make a Google Slide show presentation (in a Sir David Attenborough style) of the diagnostic features and life cycle of different animals and plants. This was to include mammals, amphibians, insects and plants. We started with mammals and each week we watched videos and took notes, turning these notes into facts to place on to the slide show. Later they added awesome photos relevant to each slide and the music by Louis Armstrong.
This was an interesting way to learn about life cycles and the children were very proud of their creations, some of them thinking that we should send them to the BBC for Sir David Attenborough, we’re sure he would enjoy them.
We hope you enjoy them too, Enjoy!
