Children from Brabyns Preparatory School have spent the week supporting others in their local town of Marple.
As part of their ‘Community Week’, which ran from Monday 27th – Friday 31stMarch, Early Years children sang to residents at Brabyns House Care Home, Years 1 and 2 performed for the residents at Smithy Court in Marple, and Years 3 and 4 operated a free car washing service.
On Wednesday morning, Year 6 ran their own toddler group for local pre-school children and their parents and carers, while Year 5 hosted a ‘Strictly Gran-tastic’ coffee morning for grandparents on Thursday. The grandparents really enjoyed their morning and left us with some lovely feedback:
‘Wonderful! The 96 mile journey to get here was worth every minute. The children were great and so were the staff. Thank you!’
‘A fabulous morning. Thank you for bringing back my youth. A wonderful opportunity to see what the younger generation are up to. School was never this fun for me. I loved it!’
‘A lovely entertaining morning that helped to keep us thinking’. Well done to all – Thank you!’
Headteacher, Lee Sanders, said: “We set up the Community Week to further our involvement with residents and organisations in our local town of Marple, and children and staff alike agreed that supporting local people of all ages has been very fulfilling.
“The children have been a credit to the School and everyone who took part agreed that it had been a highly rewarding and successful week. We very much look forward to supporting our local community again in the near future."
