In Art, Reception have been studying a painter called Giuseppe Arcimboldo (1527-1593). He was an Italian painter who painted portraits out of foods, flowers etc. to represent the seasons. Reception looked at his portraits and analysed how they were painted. They then copied the style and painted their own portraits. After that, they wrote about their portrait explaining which foods they had painted. Next they created a piece of fruit or a vegetable out of clay, using clay tools to add texture to their models and painting them mixing colours where needed. Finally we evaluated our work and discussed how we would improve it for our next Art topic. The children produced some great work.
