By Janine Sharp, Year 1 Teacher and Deputy Head
As teachers we all have additional roles and responsibilities and one of mine is leading the Medical care in School and Infection Control Lead.
We took part in an assessment of our Nursery from the ‘Health Protection and Control of Infection Unit’ in Stockport. This looked into a range of areas to check policy and procedure, for example, if we had daily checks of the cleanliness and safety of toys in place.
From our audit our scores were:
Hygiene Practices 100%
Environmental Cleanliness 100%
Toys & Play Equipment 100%
First Aid & Sharps 100%
Domestic Store 100%
Waste Management 100%
Pregnant Staff 100%
Laundry & Sleep facilities 100%
Farm Visits & Pets 100%
This is something we are very proud of and it goes alongside being awarded - yet again - Grade 5 (the highest rating possible) from the Food Standards Agency for our catering provision, as well as the fact that all our staff hold an emergency first aid award and all our EYFS staff (as well as several additional members of staff) hold a full Level 3 paediatric first aid certificate. We also train all staff on food hygiene on an annual basis.
We are proud to be a School with exceptionally high standards not only academically and pastorally, but also for the well-being and health of our children.
