It was beyond my wildest dreams that my first year of teaching would turn out to be so wonderful.
Approaching the school gates with a wealth of welcoming smiles has made coming to work feel like it's not work at all. When I began to aspire to become a teacher, I did not imagine that I would become part of a large family unit. Yet joining Brabyns has opened my eyes to the wonderfully nurturing environment that schools can be.
This year has been packed full of laughter, learning, tears and light bulb moments. It has been a pleasure to watch not only my class but children across the school develop into independent and happy young people.
The array of extra-curricular activities provided at Brabyns help to engage children in learning opportunities that they may have never considered before. This may be the various activities provided by school staff such as catering, peripatetic lessons, bananagrams and more, or the big opportunities like productions, residential trips and community events.
As I continue to progress my career in teaching at Brabyns, I am excited to see what the future holds. I’ll be sad to ‘leave’ my current Year 4 class, as it has been one of the best years of my life, however, I know that they will achieve great things in their upcoming years at Brabyns and beyond. I now eagerly anticipate getting to know even better the current Year 3 class and their families.
