As the curtain fell for the last time on our musical Ali Baba and the Bongo Bandits a warm glow of satisfaction flowed through me as I reflected on what all the Junior children had achieved from their brilliant performance.
The look on the faces of the cast told me what a fabulous experience they had enjoyed performing in the wonderful New Mills Theatre with professional lighting, sound and superb costumes to showcase their hard work and talent.
The children had justified this incredible opportunity by not only giving their very best on stage but by creating memories that will last with them for ever. Parents rewarded them with rapturous applause and the cast visibly swelled with pride as they took their final curtain calls.
As I left the theatre I contemplated the amazing progress of our Year 6 main characters. There were brilliant performances from Year 6 children especially for some who a few years previously were too nervous to perform in front of their classmates. Children who’s mature attitude in rehearsals belied their age. Children who had found a talent for acting they didn’t know they had. By the end of my journey I was filled with a mixture of huge satisfaction and trepidation! What are we going to do next year?
