At Brabyns, we believe that learning for young children should be a nurturing, rewarding and enjoyable experience in which they are able to explore, create and discover in a secure and happy environment.

The children learn through a combination of planned and child-initiated, stimulating play activities, led by our qualified Nursery teacher and under the close supervision of qualified Nursery staff who are dedicated to the well being of each child.

We place emphasis on developing healthy minds and bodies and to help implement this we follow ‘Mind Kind’ and ‘Fit for Learning’ strategies. We also make full use of our enchanting countryside surroundings.

The Early Years Foundation Stage has at its heart four distinct but complementary themes:

A Unique Child recognises that every child is an individual, possessing the capability to be resilient, confident and self-assured. The commitments are focused around development, inclusion, safety, and health and wellbeing.

Positive Relationships describes how loving and secure relationships, particularly with a ‘key person’, help to build a strong foundation for children develop strength and independence. The commitments are focused around respect, partnership with parents, supporting learning, and the role of the key person.

Enabling Environments explains that the environment plays a key role in supporting and extending children's development and learning. The commitments are focused around observation, assessment and planning, support for every child, the learning environment, as well as the wider context transitions, continuity, and multi-agency working.

Learning and Development recognises that children develop and learn in different ways and at different rates, and that all areas of learning and development are equally important and inter-connected.
