We have had a wonderful term, with a really fabulous and festive finale. There have been so many events and celebrations that give the children the opportunity to develop their abilities and confidence. These always emphasise what a special community Brabyns is, and that we are all working together for a common goal – the very best for all of the children in the Brabyns family.
Brabyns is always a wonderful place to be at Christmas. It is a privilege for me to share the children’s excitement at this time of year, and our Church Service is always a fitting start to the holidays. This year our Christmas activities have included a visit to the Panto (oh yes we did!), Nursery’s special Father Christmas Trip, and Reception going to Stockley Farm for a day packed with festive fun. We held various seasonal events in School, including a successful Christmas Fair, with special thanks to all from the BPA for their organisation. We also put on our own Saturday Christmas Craft Morning, Year 1 & 2 had their Parent and Child Christmas afternoons (Reading and Craft activities) and we held our lovely annual Christmas Cocoa evening. Christmas Jumper day (thank you for all the donations to our Charity of the year RNLI) was organised by the School Council and all the children looked splendid as they tucked into our delicious Christmas Dinner!
The Early Years Nativity is always a highlight and all involved, once again, were wonderful. It was great to see our two years olds on stage alongside the older Nursery children and our amazing Reception children who demonstrated their ever developing confidence to speak and sing on stage with such accomplishment. You can watch it again, and share it with others, on Brabyns TV – better than much of the Christmas TV to come, I’m sure!
As mentioned the Church Service is a wonderful end to the term and start of the holidays. The ability and confidence of all our children always impresses me and as Phil from the Church said to me, ‘it is great that all of the children are involved and get the opportunity to perform'. This is something we as a staff strive to ensure and that our small Brabyns family enables us to do. I was also very impressed by the lyrics the children in Years 5 and 6 wrote; a lovely way of showcasing their talents from their Music lessons. The performances can be viewed again here and there are also photos on Facebook and our website.
This has been a very successful term yet again, with some wonderful achievements in a variety of aspects of School life. I know there will be more to come, including in Year 6’s forthcoming entrance exams. I have been very proud of all the opportunities we have been able to give the children and how engaged they have been throughout the term. We continually strive to offer an extensive educational provision for all of the children in our nurturing environment, and from this it is fantastic to see the children’s capability and confidence continue to rise.
I wish everyone a merry and safe Christmas and great family time, and look forward to hearing all the children’s news (and their resolutions!) in the new year.
